Apple hit $2trn net worth, topples Saudi-Aramco as world’s most valuable company

Tech giants, Apple have officially become the first American company to hit $2trn dollars in net worth.

The tech outfit who are the manufacturers of iPhone, Mac computers and Apple wristwatch, has now become the most valuable company in the world.

The current numbers also imply that the company’s net worth is higher than the entire gross domestic product of the entire 48 countries in sub-Saharan Africa which includes Nigeria and South Africa — the largest economies on the continent.

According to data provided by the World Bank, the GDP of the entire region was $1.75 trillion at the end of 2019.

Apple is not the first company in the world to cross the $2 trillion dollar mark in net worth, as government-owned Saudi Aramco accomplished the same milestone in 2019.

The outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic has, however, hit the oil company hard, leading to a downward spiral of it’s net value.

After suffering stock value decline at the outset of the coronavirus pandemic, Apple shares are currently trading at $467.78 per share.

Amazon and Mircosoft are also edging closer to the $2 trillion mark while Alphabet, the parent company of Google, is now worth more than $1 trillion.
